- This winning combination was purposefully designed into Springfields and is the reason many retailers continue to see category-leading results year after year
Springfields Outlet and Leisure goes from strength to strength enjoying 16 years of growth. Since the reopening of retail post-lockdown in April 2021, weekly sales have consistently delivered double-digit growth up on 2019, culminating in the final Christmas week with sales up +19%, again vs 2019. Comparable December turnover lifted +30% vs. 2020 outside Covid restrictions periods.
Springfields’ unique mix of retail, leisure and 25 acres of award-winning gardens is the winning formula for retail destinations today. Conceived, developed and asset managed by SLR Outlets for the UBS Triton Property Fund LP, this combination is exactly what guests are looking for. Giving everyone what they want with a perfect shopping experience set in an uplifting healthy green environment. A great mix of sensory experiences coming together to deliver positivity and enhancing visitors’ mental health.
“Springfields is an ongoing success story, and we are looking forward to even more growth in 2022 as we get ready to open Phase 3 next year. We had a vision when we designed Springfields to combine outlet and outdoor family leisure and have improved it every year”, said Ian Sanderson, Director of Springfields Outlet and Leisure and SLR Outlets.
Springfields continues to outperform the national retail trend with exceptional trading performances throughout the scheme, with the vast majority of brands trading significantly up on 2019, which was itself a record year. Recording its highest ever weekly sales in December and the busiest Winter Wonderland Walk with 36,000 paying visitors plus a sell-out Fireworks display, backed up its bespoke customer technology, Springfields consistently maximises footfall.
All segments are showing growth with very strong results for fashion, athleisure, jewellery and home and garden. The food and beverage sector is also booming with restaurants and cafés extending visitor time and spend. The combination of retailers like Dune London, Joules, Radley London, OSPREY LONDON and Jack Wills and a great mix of F&B including Frankie & Benny’s, Caffé Nero, and homegrown The Kitchen, plus a large Blue Diamond Home and Garden centre make Springfields a must-visit-often destination for the whole of the East of England.
Positioned on the A16 near Spalding, Lincs, Springfields is the only outlet destination serving the whole of the East of England and East Anglia.
